It Is A Growing Market!

Another wonderful day around the Cannon County Courthouse Square with several Farmers and Customers from Cannon County and surround counties selling and purchasing fresh farm produce.

Kevin and Dorinda Mankin from Woodbury's East side made a purchase of Wild Blackberries from Gail Waterson. She has several different sizes of containers to choose from, can almost smell the Blackberry Cobbler!

Watch for tomatoes and corn to arrive soon. Mr. Parsley will have Peaches and Cream available in the next week or so, had green beans today and sold out within a half hour. Flying S Farms reported they harvested a handful of tomatoes and will have more available over the next couple weeks. The Messicks had fresh garlic, potatoes, squash and green beans. The Smithson's had those beautiful cabbages they grow and sold out quickly. John and Tish Erdmann of Erdmann Farm in Christiana arrived with flowers, herbs, lettuce and squash, this was their first time with CCFM and had a great day.
Be sure to arrive early to the Market for the best selection.
Coming Soon: Tomatoes, Corn, Okra and more.

Supporting Our Local Farmers' Market

There were folks lined up Saturday, June 20th in their 'CARS' receiving curb service from Farmers of the Market. We don't know of any other market in Tennessee that offers this service. There is no excuse why you can't make it to the Cannon County Farmers' Market on Saturday Mornings between 6am and 10am, just drive up!

Even though the temperature was in the 90's, it was a beautiful day around the Courthouse Square. There was a slight breeze and shade provided by the trees on the North side of the Square making it comfortable to visit the Market. Many new customers arrived and enjoy the bounty provided by the Farmers. One family from "Dunlap, Tn" was returning home from vacationing in North Dakota and purchased several items from different Farmers to take home with them. Another customer said she had picked up what she will be having for dinner that evening: green beans, squash, blackberries, cabbage and potatoes and was going home to make a pan of cornbread and have a feast!
What's Pickin' from the Farmers: Mr. Parsley has green beans, potatoes, squash and should have 'Peaches and Cream' Corn in 2 weeks, Mrs. Gail W. has Wild Blackberries and assorted squash, The Smithson's have gorgeous cabbage, Flying S Farms has assortment of heirloom squash, cucumbers and baked goods and Darlene T. has beautiful bunches of carrots, onions and lettuce.

Look forward seeing everyone at the Market on Saturday. With a purchase you will receive a Cannon County Farmers' Market Tote Bag (while supplies last).

A Fun Morning on the Square

It was a beautiful day for the Opening of our Cannon County Farmers' Market. County Mayor, Mike Gannon was presented a Cannon County Farmers' Market Produce Bag from Market Representative and Vendor Catherine Simmons when he welcomed Farmers to the Market today. We are excited about having the Market back around the Square and looking forward to filling it up with Vendors and Customers.

There were 5 Farmers with a nice selection of Produce: Roma Beans, Summer Squash, Onions, Radishes, Cabbage, Garlic Scapes, White Cucumbers and Green Cucumbers and Fresh Garlic and Strawberries. Also had Tomato plants and Baked Goods for sale.
Farmers presented customers with a "Cannon County Farmers' Market" bag when they made their purchase. The bags where made available using an Advertising Grant award to the Market this year. McFerrin Printing located here in Woodbury, did an excellent job in designing the new Market Logo and having the bags available for Opening Day.

The Market is looking for any small musical groups or individuals that would like perform or 'jam' during the Market hours, please contact Catherine Simmons at 542-1078 for more information.
If anyone would be interested in selling their locally grown produce at the Market, please contact the County Agents office at 563-2554 or Catherine Simmons 542-1078 for more information.
Look forward to seeing you at the Cannon County Farmers' Market next week.
